A Marvel Fan, a Football Bar & a Breakfast Club Walk into a Newsletter…
Hello People Of Lisbon,
I’m writing to you from a Starbucks. It’s just after 1pm on a Wednesday, and I’ve just had another message from someone telling me they’re leaving Lisbon. That makes three in the past few weeks. Is it just me, or is there something in the air?
It’s left me feeling a little melancholic, if I’m honest. Maybe it’s just the rhythm of city life—people come, people go. Lisbon is a bit like a train station for some: beautiful, brief, and on the way to somewhere else. Has anyone else noticed this lately? Or am I just the one watching all the departures board updates?
I’ve been here five years now. Occasionally, my mind flirts with the idea of a new adventure. But maybe some of us are just built that way—restless, curious, and a little allergic to routine. Wandering spirits.
Anyway, enough of my caffeinated ramblings.
On with the newsletter...
No new episode this week, folks — but fear not.
We hit the streets last week to film a brand new show, and it's going to be a good one. We're currently in edit mode, slicing and dicing together a People Of Lisbon episode featuring DJ Ricardo Mello.
You might know Ricardo from his high-energy sets for Benfica FC or his festival appearances all over the place… but what we discovered? The man is a massive Marvel nerd. Like, full-on Iron Man superfan.
It’s shaping up to be a delightfully unexpected video. Stay tuned — we’ll drop it soon.
In the meantime, get a sneak peek of the shoot — captured by Rita Ansone — over on our Instagram. Go enjoy some behind-the-scenes goodness.
Since we’ve got no new video for you this week… let’s rewind.
This time last year, we introduced you to Duarte Garcia — a man on a mission to open Lisbon’s next great football bar, just in time for the Euros.
Remember the Euros? Last summer? That was only a year ago? Feels like five. Or yesterday. Honestly, time is a mess.
Anyway — Duarte was full of energy, passion, and football fever, setting up shop near Marquês de Pombal with big dreams and even bigger TV screens.
If you missed it, now’s the perfect time to catch up (or rewatch and pretend you remember it the whole time).
Tomorrow night: Club People Of Lisbon gathering at Tribe!
We’re back at Tribe Social Club for another evening of good vibes and better conversation.
This time, I’ll be sitting down with none other than Tim Vieira — entrepreneur, investor, presidential candidate, car collector, international school founder... you name it, Tim’s done it. We’ll be talking about the state of Lisbon, the future of Portugal, and whatever else this fascinating man throws our way. With Tim, there’s always a lot to unpack.
This gathering is just for Club members — so if you’re not one yet, consider this your sign. It’s only €10/month to join the Club, and that gets you access to our private events, behind-the-scenes bits, and the ever-growing People Of Lisbon community.
Join Club People of Lisbon here.
Completely random, but last night, I went to see the new F1 movie at the IMAX in Colombo. An absolute cheesefest — but honestly? Thoroughly entertaining. Think adrenaline, slow-motion helmet removals, and plenty of ice baths for Brad.
A few Lisbon things to keep your eye on…
🧇 Ever dreamt of a Lisbon Breakfast Club?
Well, one of our very own Club People of Lisbon members made it a reality. It's casual, friendly, and—most importantly—involves coffee and eggs. Check it out and sign up here:

🎾 Tennis + Co-working in Ericeira?
Another Club member, Kate Shifman, has a very chill idea: combine your laptop hustle with a bit of on-court action. If you’re into the idea of beach vibes, backhands, and balanced productivity, read more here:

🌿 A thriving Lisbon wellness biz is up for grabs
This morning I heard from Hayley Enright, a long-time Lisboner and holistic practitioner who’s given over 16,000 treatments (yes, really). She’s relocating and selling her gorgeous wellness space—aka Lisbon Wellness.
Hayley says it’s ideal for:
• A practitioner wanting a turnkey setup
• An entrepreneur looking for passive income via space rental
• An org wanting to expand in Lisbon
We made a video with Hayley a while back—check it out to see her space.
Interested? Message us or reach out to Hayley directly.
Wrapping it all up (with excellent news!)
Yes, this may be the most wonderfully rambling People Of Lisbon newsletter yet—but let’s end on a high note:
🛬 Moviinn is back on board!
Our long-time friends in relocation are renewing their sponsorship of all things People Of Lisbon. If you need help with visas, taxes, school enrolment, housing—or just which pastelaria serves the flakiest custard tart—Moviinn are the pros. We even filmed Moviinn founder James Muscat once upon a time, so feel free to nose around that video for proof of pedigree.
And more than a nod to our other great sponsors…
🥤 Why Not Craft Soda
Hot day? Grab a Why Not. Founder Nils will be at tomorrow’s gathering—taste tests may mysteriously appear. Because… why not?
🏢 Big things brewing at Tribe Social Club
Our gracious hosts have an app launch on the horizon, and we’re itching to spill the details. Stay tuned—exciting collab incoming.
🗣️ Obrigado, Practice Portuguese
Still mixing up saudade and saudável? Same. Their platform is hands-down the easiest way to polish your português.
And that’s it. See you tomorrow, Club crew. Everyone else—come join us for a mere €10/month and get in on the fun.
Até já & have a brilliant week,
Stephen O’Regan
